Rakhi is a solution-oriented business lawyer with 22+ years of experience including as a General Counsel for the Asia Pacific region for a US based multinational company where she led legal team in the region. Prior to working as in-house counsel, Rakhi has worked as a transactional lawyer in leading law firms in the country for initial 8+ years of her career.
Furthermore, she has a wealth of experience in drafting employee handbooks and employment policies; drafting and implementing ethics and compliance framework including delivering trainings; advisor and ombudsman for internal investigations (including employee relations, POSH related cases and member of IC); training a team of commercial lawyers including establishing a centre of excellence for contracts review for transactions across EMEA and the US.
Expertise
Her experience spans a wide range of legal matters which include providing strategic legal advice to business and senior management to mitigate core legal risks in the APAC region; drafting and negotiation of high value multi-countries and multi-services contracts; leading M&A transactions and post divestiture integration; corporate restructuring; Board Governance; crisis management; providing strategic and future based legal advice related to global initiatives such as Data Privacy projects; Artificial Intelligence governing procedures; robotics automation projects.
With deep interest in cyber laws, she worked from the inception of the Information Technology Act, 2000 with a prominent Supreme Court lawyer assisting him in researching and writing a book on the subject. She has been instrumental in drafting and implementing policies around data privacy as part of the global initiative while working in-house. Rakhi is also a certified privacy professional – CIPP/A and CIPP/E from International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and holds a certificate in Leadership with AI program from Indian School of Business (ISB) Hyderabad. In her most recent assignment, she has worked on developing policy around use of Artificial Intelligence within her organization.
